IPX4 and IPX4k

Splashing Water and Splashing Water with Increased Pressure

IPX4 and IPX4k

The IPX4 and IPX4K spraying water tests, performed with an oscillating tube, assess a product's ability to resist water splashes from any direction. In both tests, water is sprayed from various angles using an oscillating tube, providing consistent and even exposure, which enhances the reliability and repeatability of test results. The main difference between IPX4 and IPX4K lies in water pressure and intensity; IPX4 uses a standard water spray, while IPX4K applies a higher-pressure spray (approximately 20 psi vs 60 psi). IPX4 is commonly used for products exposed to rain or light splashes, like outdoor lighting or garden equipment, while IPX4K is suitable for applications needing additional water resistance, such as components used in harsh environments or industrial machinery. Assured Testing Services offers both IPX4 and IPX4K tests, utilizing their expertise and precision equipment to deliver accurate assessments of product performance.
